The farm Strakerjahn in Hörste is the basis cell of the westphalian Godt’s and
was visited at Saturday.
Starting in Hörste the
westphalian Godts explored the world
Translation:
Related oder not, who had the Godt name was
welcomed at the weekend for the Godt reunion.
50 Godt’s came to Halle for the family reunion,
to take part in seeing the Godt basis cell, the today
farm
Strakerjahn in Hörste.
Hans-Jürgen Godt, born in Flensburg and now working
as an engineer for electrics in Braunschweig, has
been the organicer of the meeting. He was supported by the local Godt’s.
The Godt’s work intensively in family research
since years, which as well brought disenchantment, in
the cause, that not every Godt is related.
With the newest informations it may be clear,
that there are two Godt families. One has her roots in the
german-danish north, the other in Hörste. The american Godt’s emigrated
approximately at the end of the
18th century as descendants of the danish Godt’s. (“This is wrong!!!)
Hans –Jürgen Godt said, formerly it was
mentioned, that both Godt clans had an common ancestor,
who probably came from Westphalia to Danmark in the mix up of the 30years war.
. (“This is wrong!!!)
The intensive family research now excludes
this.
So nowadays is thought that there is a
simultaneously name evolution of different reasons.
The danish-branch can be lined up until about
1690. On the other side, the Godt’s from Hörste may
line up their branch until about 1614, explained Willi Godt and
Friedrich-Wilhelm Dickenhorst,
who is very much involved in local history research. Lina Godt, as the heir of
the farm, married a
Strakerjahn from Steinbruch in Halle and since then the farm in Hörste is
called Strakerjahn.
Friedrich Wilhelm Dickenhorst’s grand aunt (wrong: grandmother!!!) was a born Godt and married
a
Dickenhorst in Brockhagen.
The third part at the reunion was the american
Godt clan, guided by Earl W. Godt. The seven Godt
are all descendants of the emigrated Godt’s from Danmark (wrong: … and from Westphalia!!!)
At saturday morning all participants had great
pleasure because of being heartly welcomed on the
basis Godt farm in Hörste. Especially the Americans had great fun with the old
sandstoneplates,
on which names with dates from 1858 are inscripted. At the evening in the Hotel
Hollmann, it was
talked ”Godtous” until deep in the night
